Description
By now, many people have heard mindfulness helps relieve stress but often wonder how or it can seem too challenging. "I can't sit still," "I don't know what I'm doing!", "I'm falling asleep" are all common questions before even getting started. If you've been interested in learning about mindfulness but feel like you might need some guidance, this course may be helpful it helping you start your journey.
This is a one-week live online course. During this course, we will:
- Practice mindfulness meditation in a straightforward and non-religious way.
- Engage in different meditation practices to find which ones are most supportive to you.
- Create space to ask questions, like....what do I do when I'm bored??
- Learn in a small group environment.
- Identify ways to create a personal practice.
What to Expect
This is a one week course, meeting one hour per day. We will practice mindfulness meditation together, learn what mindfulness is and is not, identify how mindfulness can help us with daily stressors, and engage in conversation about challenges, experiences during meditation, and how to develop a personal practice.
Who Should Not Take This Course
While this class is open to beginners and those interested in learning more about mindfulness meditation, this may not be the right time for everyone to start a practice. People who should wait to take this course or talk to their mental health provider first are: people experiencing suicidal thoughts, depression, PTSD, substance abuse, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other mental health disorders.
